Frequently Asked Questions
How long is a CPL Class?
The State of Michigan requires an eight hour class which involves time in the classroom as well as on a range.
Do I have to be 21 years old?
Many people wait until they are 21 for proper training but we encourage all adults over the age of 18 to train with us. One can own a firearm when they are eighteen; therefore, the sooner one trains, the better, and the course certificate necessary to submit (when applying a license to conceal carry) does not expire for four years.
Do I have to own a firearm to take this course?
Firearms are available to rent. There is no need to purchase one to take the course. We encourage all students to try different models before purchasing as each human hand is unique, there is no one size fits all when it comes to finding a tool that fits like a natural extension of one’s self.
Do I have to have ammunition?
The vast majority of ranges sell various types and you can find what you need there. You will need fifty rounds/one box.
What type of gear do I need for the range?
A baseball hat, eye protection, and ear protection. We also encourage a long sleeve t-shirt and closed toed shoes. Low cut or V-neck tops are discouraged.
Do you offer women’s only courses?
We do. Sometimes a person has endured a traumatic event which causes them to seek out a women’s only friendly environment.
We understand and are able to provide that.
Should one take an intro to firearms course before their eight hour class?
We strongly encourage those who have not yet handled a firearm to take an entry level class to prepare them for range time as well as to instill them with confidence.
Are gift certificates available?
Yes. We applaud the gesture. You are giving the gift of prepare
